These lamps are primarily used in "Intelligent Lighting" or "Moving Heads" within the entertainment industry.
Discharge sources provide a higher luminous output at lower power levels than their incandescent equivilent and have a characteristically 'cooler' colour temperature, typically 6000-8000K or "daylight white". Traditionally used in followspots, these are also commonly used in effects, moving heads and moving mirror lights used in theatre, live music and club venues.
